Rail Operations Analyst (Level 6)

Description

OPERATIONS:

  • Manage daily rail operations to ensure the accomplishment of our loading plans.
  • Coordinate train calls to prevent stoppage time in our yards caused by congestion or lack of empties.
  • Railcar follow up and transit time validation for each market and site.
  • Work on a weekly basis with VSSM objectives and GMNA yards to move all import vehicles on time considering short shipments penalties of urgent units.
  • Inform to supervisor and manager any deviations in our loading programs.
  • Ensure the railcar crossings working side by side with GM Customs and MX/USA brokers to avoid demurrages charges and stoppages.
  • Request and follow up on a daily basis, empties south of the border, bilevels crossing and analyze railroads Equity.
  • Analysis of current inventories, production and sales forecasts to determine the railcar supply requirements at each GM location (plants, ports, and VDC).

  • Maintains data integrity within GMM and the railroads.
  • Responsible for making decisions on the resolution of issues that impact on-time and safe movement of our vehicles
  • Analysis of data and document rail service failures in order to provide metrics to the railroads; identify issues and take corrective action to improve the service.
  • Improve communication skills between our yard managers and railroad companies.
  • Avoid aging on Rail inventories.
  • Ensure correct timing for unloading operation at VDC and Ramos VDC from all markets to avoid aging on the railcars and vandalism on units.
  • Validate achievement of contracted transit times for each Route utilized by GM.
  • Coordinate the reception of high volume of imports from Lazaro and Veracruz into Mexico by rail. Optimize rail operation in case of high volume receptions
  • Direct contact with GMNA to level and plan shipments from both countries to avoid congestions. (Embargos, Metering plans and ramp diversions)
  • Empty supply assurance at ports to avoid the aging and rust condition.
  • Sinergy with Intercontinental team to achieve import and export vessel programs.
  • Generate reports and coordinate meetings to make sure daily operations are accomplished.
  • Additional Description

    Required Qualifications:

    -

    - Bachelor's Degree: Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business, Business Administration

    -Required experience in similar position: from 1 to 3 years.

    -English Level: Advanced
