Seeking a suitably qualified Clinic Director to provide professional leadership of the Macquarie University Psychology Clinic

THE ROLE

  • Salary Package: HEW 10, From $136,636 - 160,791 p.a. plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading

  • The School of Psychological Sciences is seeking a suitably qualified Clinic Director to provide professional leadership of the Macquarie University Psychology Clinic located on the Macquarie University Wallumattagal (North Ryde) Campus.

    THE ROLE

    The Clinic Director will provide organisational and professional psychology leadership of the Macquarie University Psychology Clinic on a day-to-day basis including, liaising with other psychologists, academics, health and medical professionals, and professional administrative staff internal and external to the University to support client service requirements, and placement student requirements.

    This position will be responsible for supporting the full suite of the PG Psychology Courses' competency standards in relation to placement requirements in the clinic as well as promoting the objectives and vision of the clinic. The Director will have the ability to support the implementation and operationalisation of course placement requirements, projects, and new initiatives to ensure the Clinic adds value to the student (provisional psychologist) placement training experience and our clients' experience.

    ABOUT YOU

    You will have extensive practitioner experience in your discipline (e.g. Clinical psychology; Neuropsychology; Organisational psychology) and be a currently endorsed practitioner with PSyBA in at least one of the relevant areas of practice. Your knowledge and understanding of current and ongoing APAC requirements for the professional Masters degrees offered at MQ (including MCP; MCNP, MOrg, and MPP) and experience in the management of clinical practice will ensure your success in this busy and dynamic role.

    ABOUT US The School of Psychological Sciences is ranked in the top 75 Psychology Departments in the world and is at the forefront of excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement. We offer accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Psychology with the largest suite of postgraduate programs in New South Wales. The Macquarie University Psychology Clinic is a training clinic situated within the School of Psychological Sciences for students currently enrolled in the Master of Clinical Psychology (MCP) and Master of Clinical Neuropsychology (MCNP) courses. Students in the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology program also do placements at the Macquarie University Hospital.

    The School sits within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) whose current education suite includes courses in clinical science, physiotherapy, medicine, exercise and sports science, public health, psychology, cognitive sciences, linguistics, audiology, and speech pathology. The Faculty forms part of MQ Health, an integrated academic health sciences enterprise which incorporates Macquarie University Hospital and primary and speciality clinics.

    Essential criteria:

  • Minimum 5 year post-graduate practitioner experience in their discipline (e.g., Clinical psychology; Neuropsychology; Organisational psychology).

  • Endorsed practitioner with PSyBA in at least one of the relevant areas of practice reflecting the sub-disciplines of the MQ, PG Psychology Courses.

  • PsyBA approved Supervisor

  • Extensive management experience in a professional context (can include professional training programs or running their own small to medium-sized professional consultancy).

  • Knowledge and understanding of current and ongoing APAC requirements for the requisite professional Masters degrees offered at MQ (including MCP; MCNP, MOrg, and MPP) inclusive of all coursework requirements for the degree.

  • Capacity to provide supervision to practising clinicians.

  • Expertise in risk management oversight and provision in clinical (mental health) settings.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills including ability to write industry reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly with academic, professional and administrative teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with medical and health professionals.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines including at short notice.

  • Ability to work flexibly including operational hours of the Clinic as well as out of designated work hours to oversee any crisis management issues arising.

  • Capacity to develop clinician and procedural manuals relating to the professional practice of psychology.

  • This position requires Working with Children Check criminal record and qualifications checks.

    Work hours may vary from time to time to accommodate business needs.
