About the employer

The University of Worcester was established in 1948 as Worcester Emergency Teacher Training College. The institution was renamed as Worcester Teacher Training College and again as Worcester College of Higher Education in 1976. In the 1970s, the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) granted validation to the degrees conferred by the college. The college acquired Herefordshire and Worcestershire College of Nursing and Midwifery in 1995. In 1997, the degree-awarding powers of the institution were affirmed by the Privy Council and its name was changed to University College Worcester. The institution received the status of a university in 2005 and was given its current name. In 2010, the university was given the power of awarding research degrees by the HM Privy Council.

The university has four sprawling campuses scattered across Worcester in the UK. St John's Campus is the site of the university's establishment and houses several residence halls, teaching spaces and sports facilities. The campus is home to the University's National Pollen, Aerobiology Research Unit and Worcester Students' Union. It also includes various facilities like Drama Studio, a multigym, Digital Arts Centre, a sports hall and AstroTurf pitches. Situated at Worcester City Centre, the university's City Campus houses the McClelland Health and Wellbeing Centre, Worcester Business School, Jenny Lind building and the Hive library. Located along a riverbank, the university's Severn Campus features modern study facilities, performance analysis suites, dance studios and the University's Arena. The Lakeside Campus serves as an activity and outdoor learning centre.

Consisting of nine academic schools, the University of Worcester offers numerous full-time and part-time UG and PG programmes in various fields of education like arts, sciences, humanities, education, nursing, psychology, allied health, environment, sports business, law, maths and media. It houses over 10,800 students including lots of international students from various countries around the globe. The university maintains strategic partnerships with many prestigious local and international institutions such as Birmingham Metropolitan College in England, Coleg Gwent in Wales and Iron Mill College in Devon. Also, the university houses a committed placement team that strives to provide the students with excellent employment opportunities.

The university has several notable and successful alumni. Swaroop Sampat is a famous Indian actress who is known for her role in the TV serial called 'Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi'. Daryl Mitchell is a professional English cricket player. Jacqui Smith is the first female to ever serve as the United Kingdom's Home Secretary. Kyle Pryor is a popular English actor best known for playing the role of Nate Cooper in 'Home and Away'.
