Warehouse Management System (WMS) Project Lead

Description

As a leader in Supply Chain, you will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of individual contributors for one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain Organization: manufacturing/ warehouse operations, supply chain systems and processes, launch execution and scheduling and material management.

Responsible to plan, execute, deploy, and maintain WMS processes and configuration. Post WMS Go Live, this role requires interfacing with MGO, EPS, and PPS daily as the Control Room Lead.

You will act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Lead During Execution

  • Leads the planning process for the implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Support plants and suppliers in achieving GM1724 Label Compliance (i.e. 2D Barcode data elements).
  • Manages the Master Dot process and promotes continuous improvement toward the standardized project planning process.
  • Significant onsite presence integrating the Central WMS team and the plant planning team.
  • Coordinates effective project communication including leading Steering Committee, Core Team, Operational planning and various ad-hoc meetings.
  • Educates the plant team on WMS and its potential benefits driving accurate Annualized Direct Business Benefit (ADBB) calculation that is committed to by plant leadership.
  • Catalyst to capturing specific WMS plant requirements through various strategies including leading requirement workshops, leveraging existing GM material and production floor systems. Seeks formal buyoff of defined requirements.
  • Leads the operational planning for User Acceptance Testing (UAT): including developing UAT criteria, test cases, test case data and development of simulated physical environment. Continuous improvement toward standardized processes.
  • Works together with plant project team developing and executing an End User Training (EUT) plan. Continuous improvement toward standardized processes.
  • Manage scope throughout the project. Analyze and minimize scope creep ensuring all changes are formalized with the Central WMS team leadership and the Business Facing IT (BFIT). Coordinate operational buy-off.
  • Coordinates the operational planning for Inventory Conversion, and Go Live.
  • Train other Plant WMS Control Room Leads and Analysts.
  • Structure the Control Room day-by-day monitoring processes to guarantee no plant disruptions after project hands off.
  • Structure and standardize how to extract data from WMS and transform them into KPIs so that all plants start measuring the same way & same things for future benchmarking.
  • Extended offsite support during Inventory Conversion and Go-Live.
  • Supports the implementation of GMS Principles in the WMS process design.
  • Capture Lessons learned throughout all stages of the project.
  • Directly supervises the WMS Analyst.
  • Requires bi-annual rotation between 1st and 2nd shift.
  • Preferred two-year assignment to support project planning, execution, and training.
  • Description – Post WMS Go Live - Control Room Lead

  • Evaluate current material processes compared to BOP and develop action items to resolved gaps.
  • Actively participates in detail business requirements gathering and achievement of project milestones.
  • WMS Training development and execution lead for End Users.
  • Support operational Group Leaders and Analysts in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Identify, plan, and lead operational plant readiness activities.
  • Planning and operational support for all systems (MGO, PPS, EPS, WMS).
  • WMS, EPS, and PPS configuration lead.
  • Responsible for MGO routings and displacements.
  • Responsible for planning, configuration, and validation of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) & Key User Training (KUT).
  • Ensures that there are no interruptions to the assembly line or warehouse due to system issues.
  • Develop and lead Manual Operation Process (MOP).
  • KPI's, metrics, and data reporting to leadership and central office (including enhancements) aiming at Productivity Opportunities.
  • Configuration lead for CI process – EPS/PPS/Sequencing/Kitting/build changes and the ability to adapt on the fly to changes that impact the production floor.
  • Technical support for global label compliancy process.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • At least 5 years of plant materials floor experience.
  • High functional capability with material floor systems: MGO, RF-EPS, PPS.
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain and Lean Materials Processes: Logistics, Receiving, Internal Materials Flow, LMS Kitting/Sequencing, Scrap and Obsolete Processes.
  • High level of problem solving and analytical ability where problems are complex.
  • Very good computer skills with understanding of Microsoft Office, Power BI, WebEx, SharePoint, Visio etc.
  • Ability to treat and manage high amount of data mainly using Excess or Access Databases.
  • Experience with GMS Short-Lead-Time (SLT) implementation and execution.
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a cross functional environment to achieve results and drive change.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, plan, and organize.
  • Multi-plant and/or functional experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with a Warehouse Management System (ideally with Manhattan Associate WMOS) preferred.
  • Primary Location: Bowling Green – Flexible Assembly Support and Transportation Center (F.A.S.T.)
