The Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, tenured/tenure-track position with a 9-month academic appointment at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels beginning spring of 2024. Although candidates in all research areas will be considered, we are particularly interested in areas that synergize with our research strengths in biomedical imaging, biosensing, medical devices, regenerative medicine, and biomaterials and with demonstrated success in collaborating across multiple engineering or scientific disciplines. Specifically, this position will focus on applications of biophotonics for cancer treatment and diagnostics as well as for photonics for microbiological control. The incoming candidate should demonstrate a translational approach to research and a commitment to education that is synergistically aligned with the department and the Texas A&M System. Early- career candidates must demonstrate strong potential to sustain an extramurally-funded and translationally-focused research program, while mid- career candidates must have a proven ability to do so. In addition, senior candidates should possess proven leadership skills and an established reputation as a scholar. Senior-level applicants will be eligible to apply for an endowed professorship during the hiring process. The successful applicant will be required to teach; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
