DescriptionThe Department of Public Health Sciences at the Texas A&M University, School of Dentistry invites applications for a faculty appointment that also includes an administrative appointment as the Department Head for Public Health Sciences. This position is a full-time 100% FTE, tenure-track or tenure review upon hire faculty position with an 11-month service period ; the start date is July 1, 2023 or negotiable. The appointment will be either Associate Professor or Professor, rank commensurate on review of qualifications.
This position calls for a person with experience in effective administration who promotes an environment of integrity and collegiality. The person is expected to build and raise the national and international reputation through excellence in teaching predoctoral, as well as graduate and advanced education programs, with a focus on research and scholarly activity and professional related service, including but not limited to seeking external funding for oral health initiatives in the north Texas communities. Responsibilities as a department faculty member will include participating in teaching (didactic, preclinical, and clinical) at both predoctoral and postdoctoral levels, research, and service. The administrative responsibilities of the department head are to manage department faculty and staff in support of clinical teaching and resident patient care within the onsite outpatient clinics and external outpatient clinic sites throughout the North Texas region, particularly in the DFW metroplex or other Texas A&M Health facilities. The department head is fiscally responsible for dental public health operations and reports directly to the Dean of Texas A&M University School of Dentistry.

QualificationsThe successful candidate must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree, a certificate in Dental Public Health from a CODA accredited program, be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Dental Public Health or equivalent academic/federal qualifications. The candidate is expected to obtain a dental license in the State of Texas.
Candidates should have a demonstrable record of excellence in leadership and program management, teaching, service, patient care and scholarship and research accomplishments; record of obtaining external funding for oral health initiatives
