Description

Manages operations of telecommunications services. Maintains contacts with vendors of telecommunications equipment and services.

Manages personnel in Telecommunications and Customer Service Operations to include work assignments, training, performance appraisals, and hiring and promotion recommendations.

Manages department budget and oversees annual budget preparation.

Develops reports and long-range planning for group.

Ensures telecommunications service to campus including, but not limited to, campus wide cabling, installation and repair services, telecommunications transmissions systems, equipment procurement and inventory, and development of telecommunication standards.

Provides design and support services, along with consultation to departments making changes to their voice, data and video systems configuration and operations.

Works with departments in defining guidelines for the development of the technical infrastructure for telecommunications services, and recommends equipment compatibility and network connection policies.

Evaluates and oversees equipment purchase procedures, serving as a contact with telecommunications vendors; makes equipment purchase decisions.

Oversees maintenance of telecommunications website.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of Experience with Skype for Business (SFB) telephony

Experience with MS Teams telephony. UH is in the process of retiring SFB and migrating to MS Teams telephony.

Experience with Call Center applications. Our current call center is Anywhere365 compatible with SFB. The telecom manager will be responsible for evaluating and recommending.

Salary: 5,792.00 - 7,675.00
