We now invite applications for appointment as Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Education.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has established a Common Core Curriculum (CCC) for all undergraduates since September 2012. The Common Core has four Areas of Inquiry - Science, Technology and Big Data; Arts & Humanities; Global Issues; and China: Culture, State and Society - that span the ten academic Faculties of HKU with English as the medium of instruction. The CCC course “ CCCH 9027 China's Ethnic Groups: Cultural Assimilation or Cultural Pluralism? ” examines how China's civilization, institutions, laws and policies address the challenge of multiethnic integration for its 55 ethnic minorities. The course will highlight the rich array of cultural traditions as they are situated within the mainstream of China's development. Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will assist the course coordinator in the teaching of the CCC course CCCH 9027, conducting small-group tutorials (12 sessions per week, one hour per session, 12 weeks in total), marking assignments/examination scripts, preparing materials, supervising student work, co-grading all final assignments according to the course requirement, and undertaking related tasks as assigned.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have a doctorate degree and preferably with teaching experience at university level. Experience as a former Common Core Teaching Assistant is an advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a temporary full-time basis for six months, to commence as soon as possible but no later than January 1, 2024.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
