    Responsible for conducting research and planning to build up existing public humanities programming and develop new programming recommendations under the guidance of El Paso Community College (EPCC) and University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) faculty.

    Program Description:

    The Humanities Collaborative grant is a partnership between El Paso Community College and the University of Texas at El Paso to work together to strengthen existing ties between the two institutions, to engage in collaborative mentoring of students and faculty across the institutions in humanities research and teaching, and to raise the profile of the humanities in our border region through innovative, student and faculty driven humanities programming. An important outcome of the grant will be an increased flow of humanities students through both institutions.

    Essential Functions

    Participate in the development and implementation of research projects. Conduct research and participate in the process of data collection and evaluation, interpretation, and analysis under the guidance of EPCC and UTEP faculty mentors. Compile data, prepare and submit reports. Maintain files and records.

    Assist in the planning, coordination, and publicity of public humanities programming, by promoting through social media, under the direction of faculty mentor, grant Principal Investigator (PI), and co-PIs. Recommend and assist in implementing enhancements to humanities programming based on new research and best practices learned.

    Work with staff to address marketing strategies. Participate in public humanities programming by attending and assisting at the events and helping to ensure humanities programming success. Assist in the design and facilitation of workshops and address workshop concerns.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Must be a current higher education student having completed one semester at EPCC, have an overall 3.0 GPA, required to submit two faculty reference letters or references and on-the-job training.

    NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

    2. Proficient computer and social media skills.

    3. Ability to work with students, staff, and general public.

    4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

    5. Effective communication skills (both oral and written).

    6. Ability to conduct presentations and workshops.

    7. Ability to motivate people and demonstrate a level of self-confidence, assertiveness and personal drive.

    8. Ability to convey an outgoing, friendly demeanor to represent the College in a positive manner and to build confidence in others.

    Special Conditions: 1. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.

    2. Ability to work assigned work hours to include evenings and weekends.

    a. Related experience beyond the minimum required may be used to substitute for up to one-half of the minimum education requirements at a 2:1 ratio.

    b. Education beyond the minimum required may be used as a substitute for up to one-half of the minimum experience requirements at a 2:1 ratio.

    Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an agency certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or granting institution if accredited by one of the regional accrediting bodies such as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

    Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
