Ford Model E Platform Architecture Engineering is looking for a Staff embedded software engineer to work on any of the following domains: BSP for Automotive Infotainment SoCs, Power Management, Safety Island, Platform Security, Widevine Integration, Platform OTA, Telemetics, Logging, Diagnostics, Multimedia related components like Camera, Audio, Video, Display, Touchscreens for Ford vehicles. In this role you will be responsible for the development of automotive software solutions and embedded software modules for electric vehicles developed by Ford.

You will be expected to pivot quickly on new ideas. Failing fast will be normal.

Responsibilities

What you'll do • Lead the successful development of next generation software components for electric vehicles.• Work with architects, engineers and other technical specialists to design an integrated solution.• Partner with cross functional teams to define objectives, scopes, timelines, milestones, deliverables.• Coordinate with system owners with planning, implementation approaches, testing, documenting, and maintain solutions for cloud, on premise, and hybrid services, systems or subsystems using defined processes and tools.• Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of systems.• Integrate solutions with existing embedded systems components.• Interface with hardware design team.• Provide post-production escalation support.• Participate in software and hardware design reviews.• Integrate and test new software builds on prototyping vehicle platforms.• Deliver artifacts to OTA and program teams for incorporation into production releases.• Develop regression tests and ensure proper code coverage for release software.

Qualifications

You'll have • B.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience. • 10+ years working experience in software engineering.• 7+ years experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems. • 7 + years programming experience in C or C++ and Python.

Even better, you may have • M.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.• Board bring up experience.• Programming experience in Rust.• Experience negotiating with hardware and or software vendors.• Experience working with any of the following open-source technologies: Yocto, Xen, Automotive Grade Linux, PipeWire, PulseAudio, Wayland, Display Compositors, Android Auto and or Apple CarPlay Integration.• Strong documentation, writing, and communications skills.• Must be willing to learn and dive into unknow areas.
