The Job

The Sr. Director, SEC Reporting is an experienced and highly motivated professional who is a key member of accounting and financial reporting's senior management, responsible for all SEC reporting processes. This lead role is responsible for oversight and management of overall SEC reporting activities. The role is expected to engage and interact with other functions contributing to the overall success of Core Scientific. The ability to delegate to others and manage a team are necessary.

This role is critically important in providing timely, thorough and accurate reporting of financial results to all stakeholders in the success of Core Scientific.

Responsibilities:

  • Own all aspects of the preparation of SEC filings and supporting documents, including Form 10-K, 10-Q, proxy statements, certain 8-Ks, and other required form filings.
  • Establish the full financial reporting process for all SEC financial filings, taking initiative for improvements and optimizations.
  • Support and contribute to the proper accounting and reporting of equity activity and share based compensation.
  • Actively participate in disclosure processes, reviews and meetings.
  • Contribute to preparation of Audit Committee and Investor Relations materials (decks & releases).
  • Identifying, creating, implementing and enforcing relevant financial reporting controls and related finance and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support reviews and audits of controls and financial reporting both internally and externally, including preparation and review of key deliverables.
  • Support the generation of internal management reports and financial analysis.
  • Lead and drive financial reporting system implementations and integrations.
  • Review financial information included in the company's external communications, such as those for investor/analyst conferences, earnings calls and releases.
  • Perform regular benchmarking analysis of peer disclosures in the quarterly and annual reports.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Lead special and ad hoc projects when and as needed.
  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years progressive accounting and financial reporting, with increasing management and responsibility for staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA highly desired.
  • In-depth understanding of SEC financial reporting requirements and functions, including XBRL tagging.
  • Strong foundation in SOX (or SOC 1) and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Strong foundation in core accounting and financial concepts including US GAAP reporting and accounting standards.
  • Exposure to cryptocurrency highly desired.
  • Experience using Workiva, financial reporting tool, preferred.
  • Ability to work and interface with external audit firm to support timely and accurate completion of quarterly and annual internal and external financial reporting requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to multi-task on competing and deadline sensitive deliverables and priorities with flexibility.
  • Executive presence with ability to represent the Finance in meetings.
  • High energy, hands-on, and “roll up your sleeves” attitude with the ability to play a leadership role in a high caliber investment accounting team, operate in a quickly changing environment and self-initiate.
  • Proven ability to excel in high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with executive management and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inform and appropriately influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial matters, simplify them down into concise recommendations and prepare reports/presentations for executive management.
  • Motivational leadership style, with a penchant for leading by example, disciplined action and driving results. Balances internal management and external focus that consistently defines and resolves the business' needs.

    Austin, TX Headquarters (preferred)

    Hybrid role (in-office weekly, with the option to work remotely certain days)

    Travel

    For candidates located in Austin, TX, no travel required.

    For fully remote candidates, minimal travel may be required.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, and smartphones.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands; and lift up to 10 pounds.

    Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, Monday – Friday full-time position working 40 hours per week. You may be expected to work some weekends and after hours as work requires.

Core Scientific reserves the right, however, to cancel outstanding orders, suspend future orders or terminate its relationship with the Supplier, as circumstances demand.
