This posting is for a Fixed Term Full-Time Speech Communication instructor at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2023. We are especially interested in those who can contribute to the diversity of the college with demonstrated commitment to teaching in a wide variety of formats to a wide variety of students. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Example of Duties:

  • Deliver instruction using a variety of methods of course instruction, including on-ground, online and/or hybrid-blended, and accelerated for a wide range of students, including traditional, developmental, adult, concurrent enrollment, and English-language learners.
  • Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Contribute in committee assignments and college-wide retention and quality initiatives an early alert system for students struggling academically.
  • Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
  • Course assignments include day, evening, and weekend hours; delivery of course may be in traditional, accelerated, online, blended/hybrid, and concurrent enrollment modes.

    Required Qualifications

    Education Requirement

  • Master's degree with a major in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies or
  • Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated contribution to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
  • Experience integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction.
  • Experience teaching face-to-face, in hybrid format, and completely online.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated participation in a wide variety of initiatives at the department, program, and college level.
  • Experience with and commitment to program-level assessment.
  • Experience assessing student academic achievement through campus-wide and classroom learning outcomes.
  • PhD.

    Founded in 1970 Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) is a public, two-year technical college in Rosemount, Minnesota. DCTC offers about 150 programs that range from an AA, to a degree in pluming. DCTC will allows students the possibility to go right into work force after graduation. Students who graduate from DCTC gave a 90% chance of getting a job after graduation.

    DCTC has over 2,000 students, and a very diverse culture. Students of color make up about 20 percent of the population. 35.2 percent of students are low income and eligible for Pell grants. Dakota County Technical College is a public two-year institution of higher education dedicated to the philosophy that there is dignity in all work and value in individual growth and learning.     Benefits Info

    Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $39,212 – $84,192 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2019-2021 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.

    Depending on credit load, the State of Minnesota offers:
