Expired

Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis and other eVTOLs off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. Our aim is to offer affordable, on-demand air taxi services that fly people to their destination quickly and safely. In 2011 we carried out the first-ever piloted flight of a fully electric multicopter and have since conducted more than 1,500 public and private test flights across the world (www. volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight: As Software Architect working on different aircraft projects, you will be responsible for bringing together and maintaining reliable software that runs on real urban air mobility solutions. You will coordinate the design, implementation, and especially testing of safe software that will literally take off in front of you. You will not just sit at your desk but also work fully hands-on with the avionic equipment and with the actual aircraft in the hangar.

  • You will take ownership of the overall software ecosystem and project management within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • You will lead the development of the software empowering our aircrafts; both ground and air unit SW, e.g. flight control software, embedded avionics software, and ground control system software.
  • You will plan, design, and maintain means for testing the correctness, performance, and safety of your software.
  • You will bring your vision to the overall software development, and define the interfaces between different systems and software items, ensure continuous integration and proper full system releases (including setting up/automating the process).
  • You will ensure maximum code coverage and code testing in the software level, but also in the system level.
  • You will provide artifacts and proofs of validation and verification activities, and document the software development.
  • You will create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured V&V test plans, protocols, and reports.
  • You will work closely with domain experts, such as team leads, software engineers, control law engineers, and verification engineers, to ensure smooth integration and testing of multiple software parts.
  • You will support the development of our SiL, HiL, and other test benches.
  • You will support, question, and potentially improve the system design that the embedded software is part of.
  • You will focus on always having a flying aircraft, quickly solving emerging problems in a pragmatic, robust manner.
  • Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the development of real-time embedded software.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. C, C++, and Python).
  • Experience in software project management (e.g. using Jira).
  • Experience in software architecture design.
  • Experience in CI/CD, release processes.
  • Experience in system and software requirements, requirement tracking, validation, and verification.
  • Experience with software engineering best practices, such as continuous integration systems (e.g. Git, Jenkins, etc.) and software testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and digital communication bus standards.
  • Experience in software development skills for complex embedded systems.
  • Hands-on attitude, passion for making and seeing stuff work/move/fly.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented, and willing to step out of your usual role to achieve a common goal.
  • Structured way of working, attention to detail, high sense of responsibility, and accountability.
  • Familiarity with DO178C or similar aviation development standards such as ARP4754 is a plus.
  • In-person availability in or near Munich.
  • Our Volocopter flight includes:

  • Fast-growing high-tech company with a superb network of investors and partners
  • Chance to shape the future of aviation
  • Help us to create groundbreaking new projects - from scratch!
  • Personal accountability, as well as growth and learning opportunities, based on your personal strengths
  • An inspiring workplace with modern workspaces, flexible hours, quick decision-making, a flat hierarchy, positive leadership, great team spirit

    About the employer

We are mobility’s new dimension. What do we offer? A way to skip those traffic jams and get to your destination with time to spare. As the pioneer of urban air mobility (UAM), we will be launching the world’s first-ever eVTOL suite of services, replete with our signature passenger air taxis, heavy-lift cargo drones, and its very own ecosystem. As far as we’re concerned, the sky really is the only limit!

We always like to take things a step – or many steps – further. For instance, we’ve known ever since we built our very first prototype that it would be a game changer. And by consistently designing and producing our all-electric VoloCity air taxis and VoloDrones and the eVTOL ecosystem to match, we are poised to change mobility as we know it. And we’ll make every leg of your journey sustainable, too. Get ready for a new kind of urban lifestyle!
