Job Description
The Senior Vice President, Engineering provides engineering-oriented
strategic, operational, architectural, and product development support for
Epsilon Data Practice. The SVP of Engineering is the custodian of the
engineering culture and must be a respected technology leader with a track
record of inspiring, building, and leading a world class engineering team in a
fast paced, scaled environment. The SVP supervises the distributed team of
leaders, software engineers, quality assurance engineers, engineering
operations and associated technical resources and is accountable for all
projects. The role includes developing technology strategy and key performance
measures, establishing objectives for the development and technology
operations functions and delivering results across objectives, initiatives,
and development projects across Data Practice portfolio and the greater
organization. The SVP should have deep experience in big data, privacy, and
security.
The SVP reports to the SVP of Data Platforms and directly assists on all
strategic, policy and tactical matters as they relate to company performance,
department supervision, budgeting and control, and financial performance.
Essential Responsibilities:
Building application and engineering roadmaps while closely partnering
with client services, sales, and product management organizations.
Active participant of executive leadership team in Data Practice and in
Epsilon.
Ensure Epsilon and Epsilon Data Practice goals and objectives reflect
priorities of Data Practice engineering and business.
Work closely and daily with Data Practice leadership and be the voice and
ears of the engineering organization.
Understand business initiatives and their impact on Data Practice
engineering.
Ensure Data Practice engineering priorities of custom development for
clients, platform improvement projects and new product innovation are
balanced in goals, budgets, and engineering resource allocation.
Customer first thinking and successful execution of software and data as a
service solution.
Execution of roadmaps, fast delivery of solutions and a phased agile
approach to solution deployment.
Build strong partnerships with platform, security, infrastructure, and
privacy teams.
Work with legal, privacy and compliance teams to ensure SOC2, ISO, and
other certifications required by the business.
Escalation management of customer and system issues. Timely communication
of issues with appropriate parties and timely resolution of issues.
Contribute innovative ideas to long term business and engineering strategy
forums.
Create technology forums that ensure consistent architectural and
technology stacks implementations across the solution space.
Lead global engineering organization of 150+ associates
Protect productions systems from fast fix deployments, security gaps and
semi-orchestrated deployments. Ensure strong controls are in place for
changes to production environments.
Build credibility and earn the respect of partners, peers, engineers,
sales, and customers.
Review architectures and designs for complex solution spaces and provide
guidance to teams on design direction. Ensure designs are viable and
practical.
Measure and improve quality, productivity, reliability, predictability,
and success of all aspects of the software development ecosystem.
Understand the impact of WFH on quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Manage the budget for labor, software, hardware, and services.
Skills:
Industry knowledge and ideally expertise in identity, data products,
consumer databases, digital advertising, and customer analytics services.
Deep knowledge of software engineering practices. 15+ years of managing
large application development teams.
Experience with modernizing applications while balancing current business
deliverables.
Ability to manage across geographies and time zones.
Ability to build trust of teams via technical skills and authentic
communication.
Expert level knowledge and experience in Agile software development
methodology.
Leadership of 100+ engineering organization.
Ability to quickly build teams with internal and contract resources that
can solve customer problems in a timely fashion.
Experience with large data repository solutions from Oracle, snowflake,
Hadoop on cloud native and data center platforms.
Understanding of modeling, ML and AI and its applications to marketing
audiences, offers and ability to predict and propose “next best action”.
Experience with SaaS, multi-tenant CRM or other multi-tenant software
expertise.
Experience with hybrid environments – cloud and data center hosted
solutions.
Expert in modern software development processes and tools – experience
with CICD in mixed technology stacks.
Strong background in data architectures, data movement, data onboarding,
PII protection, and performance management.
Ability to institute metrics for development, production, and quality.
Constantly monitoring and adjustment of focus to ensure the best solutions
are built with the least amount of “waste” in the system.
Management of $20+m of budgets for labor, software, hardware, and
services.
Ability to travel once/month domestic and 2X/year international.
Salary Range: $235,000.00 - $260,000.00
