Your new role As the Senior Research Services Officer , you will play a pivotal role in advancing the research mission of Curtin University. Working collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff, you will oversee the administration of research projects, and provide strategic guidance to support the success of our research endeavours. Your expertise and experience will be instrumental in shaping our research initiatives and strengthening our reputation as a leading research institution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review agreements to ensure compliance with Curtin policy and procedures and ensure accuracy with the annual HERDC report to the government.
  • Draft, review and work with internal and external customers to negotiate research and commercial consultancy contracts for the University.
  • Work closely with other Curtin teams, to assist in coordination of contract and commercial negotiations and discussions, including contractual and commercial negotiations with partners and funders on contracts and with strategic relationships.
  • Re-calculate project budgets to ensure all associated costs are covered for project variations.
  • Assist in the development of training and knowledge sharing documents to provide operational guidance for stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to other staff within the team to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in research administration processes, streamlining procedures to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide a personalised service by supporting projects through to project completion.
  • Contribute to a positive culture and act in accordance with Curtin's values and signature behaviours.
  • Key personal qualities essential to this role include:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high volume of contract queries with multiple competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team within the Research Office at Curtin.
  • Ability to interact positively with a diverse range of people.
  • You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
