  • About This Opportunity

    The Senior Research Coordinator provides specialist research/technical subject matter expertise in support of high-quality research outcomes at all stages of the research life cycle.

    The Senior Research Coordinator's dynamic contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless functioning of the laboratory and the successful execution of research initiatives. By actively engaging in diverse facets of laboratory management, research collaboration, safety enhancement, and innovative production processes, the Senior Research Coordinator will make a significant impact on both the laboratory's operations and the broader scientific community.

    The Senior Research Coordinator assumes a pivotal role in facilitating and advancing the research objectives of the laboratory. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Senior Research Coordinator is expected to play an integral role in the development of large-scale production of NK cells.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Laboratory financial oversight: Collaborate with the Laboratory Head to manage and oversee the laboratory's financial budget effectively, procurement coordination, lead the coordination of laboratory supplies procurement.

  • Experiment setup and monitoring, data management and documentation:

  • Research contribution: Actively participate in contributing to research outputs, aiding in data analysis, and supporting the preparation of report, ethics, and compliance:

  • Development of Natural Killer cell production methods and SOPs.

  • This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to the 1st September 2024, with possible extension.

    At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $84,871 - $91,158, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $99,300 - $106,655 annually.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Coordinator to apply their subject matter expertise and advanced knowledge of immunology and laboratory research to the co-ordination of the Translational Innate Immunotherapy Laboratory's research activities.

  • Completion of a relevant degree in science with subsequent experience in coordinating activities or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of general research techniques, including purchasing, report writing, preparing ethics applications.

  • Significant experience of working in wet-lab laboratory research

  • Detailed knowledge of legislative requirements and operating procedures for major areas of research and scientific safety such as quarantine procedures, good—manufacturing practice, waste disposal, labelling and risk assessment

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, with an ability to forward plan, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and work with a high level of adaptability, both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct documentation.

  • The ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a research environment.

  • In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:
