
Senior Programme Manager
For over 30 years, the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) has worked with companies and individuals who have stepped up to lead change and to tackle critical global challenges in businesses, financial institutions and governments. Finance is a key lever for change towards a sustainable economy and our Centre for Sustainable Finance brings together over 50 financial institutions across five continents to address CISL's three Rewiring the Economy tasks for finance through to 2030: - Ensure capital acts for the long term - Price capital according to the true costs of business activities - Innovate financial structures to better serve sustainable business
We are looking for a highly motivated leader to join the Centre for Sustainable Finance as Senior Programme Manager, with responsibility for the Banking Environment Initiative (BEI) The BEI is a group of global banks committed to pioneering actionable pathways towards an economy that shares wealth fairly, whilst operating sustainably.
The BEI co-produces horizon scanning research, develops leadership tools and convenes academic and industry collaborations. It is a member-led, not-for- profit group, convened by CISL.
The role
The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of sustainable finance and/or the banking sector specifically. They will envisage, direct and be accountable for delivery of a multi-project platform, generating market- leading research projects and insights that drive change in the investment sector across nature, climate and social themes. They will have experience managing relationships with senior (C-Suite) and practitioner (Head of ESG) stakeholders at investment firms, as well as project partners and other strategic partners. They will inspire and manage a small team of project managers in the Centre for Sustainable Finance, and liaise closely with colleagues across CISL in research, executive education, business and policy, to develop though-leading content that delivers value to members and the broader investment community.
They will ensure that the BEI is managed and developed in a manner that continues to strengthen CISL's relationships in the banking industry and its immediate stakeholders in the real economy, regulation and policy, and civil society.
Key responsibilities include: - Ensuring the platform delivers value and is delivered according to business plan, including new member acquisition and other funding, business development and delivery of the work programme to budget. - Working with members and academic partners to co-create thought- leading content that unlocks and mainstreams sustainable banking practice. Co- creation of content should also build capacity within banks and drive greater understanding of sustainable banking in wider policy and business communities (including collaboration with CISL's education, business and policy centres). - Collaboration within the Centre for Sustainable Finance, wider CISL, the network, University, member firms and with selected external parties to amplify the work of the platform and drive impact - Building the knowledge and capacity of team members (both direct reports and wider team). Direct line management responsibility for project manager(s) delivering platform content and managing member relations, reporting on the progress, including emerging issues or concerns.

This post is full-time and based in Cambridge, UK with a hybrid working approach. Moderate travel is required.
