  • About This Opportunity

    The Senior Library Services and Support Assistant will work within a small team to provide a range of Library support services.

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collection maintenance tasks including retrieving, sorting, and shelving library materials.

  • Assist with the transfer of library materials between collections.

  • Utilise the Library Services Platform and university systems to undertake searches for library materials including verification of bibliographic and location data.

  • Assist in the creation, editing/maintenance of system records.

  • Process library materials.

  • Open, package and send mail items.

  • Perform project-based work involving the assessment of collection space requirements and collection maintenance.

  • Maintain records and statistics as required.

  • Other duties as required commensurate with HEW levels 2-3

  • Please note that this is an on-campus role. General duties involve moving books, journals and boxes as required, climbing up and down ladders, and pushing loaded trolleys. Repetitive tasks involve lifting, reaching, and squatting with long periods of standing and walking.

    This is a part-time (16 hours per week, Mon-Fri), continuing role.

    At HEW level 3 , the full-time equivalent (FTE) base salary will be in the range $60,940.83 to $67,229.06, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $71,300.77 to $78,658.00 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases.

    About You
  • Year 12 and relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Progress towards a Diploma of Library and Information Services (Library Technician) or Diploma of Information Technology is highly desirable.

  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Good self-organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work positively as part of a team.

  • Awareness of library operations and knowledge of library systems.

  • Well developed IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Internet searching techniques, Adobe Acrobat Professional) and knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, UQ online systems..

  • Proficient data entry skills, and the ability to follow policies and procedures.

  • Flexibility and adaptability with a willingness to learn new skills.

  • Ability to work in a changing environment.
