About You
The Senior Lecturer, Public Relations will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. They will make a significant contribution to the delivery of programs and will be actively involved in research, consulting and other professional activities.
In the first three years of this position, the Senior Lecturer will manage a program teach-out and coordinate the development and delivery of a Public Relations major and minor in the new Bachelor of Professional Communication. They will also be responsible for managing accreditation with the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA). The Senior Lecturer will support the new program strategy to prepare students to be technologically fluent communication professionals who are highly adaptable to evolving roles in a global communication context. The role will involve working with a vibrant team of academics in Melbourne. The Senior Lecturer will also contribute to global development of the program.
To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:
Demonstrated ability to coordinate large courses and prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including high quality curriculum and program materials and ability to implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement.
Ability to manage and lead a large program, or several small programs.
Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.
Emerging nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research outputs in high quality outlets.
Ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, attract and secure external research funding to sustain research effort and manage funded research projects including complex budgets and reporting requirements.
Experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills including the ability to support scholarly development of less experienced academic staff, consult with senior executives, external bodies, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment.
Qualifications Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
