The Department of Health and Rehabilitation is responsible for education and research in the su:bjects of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and languugc puthology and uudiology. The Dcpartmcnt aims to conduct education and research with excellent quality.
The Unit of Physiotherapy has an active education and research environment with a vision to continue to take part in the development of physiotherapy of the future. The Unit of Physiotherapy conducts education at bachelor, master and doctoral levels.
The Unit of Physiotherapy conducts translational research with national and international collaborations. Both education and research are in close collaboration with the health care system.

Subject area descriptionPhysiotherapy comprises the knowledge and study of a human being in motion and in what way movement, the awareness of body and movement, habits and life pattern affect human health. Physiotherapy within neurological rehabilitation is a big and growing field given the demographic development with increasing age of the population.
DutiesWhen employed as a Senior Lecturer at the Unit of Physiotherapy, the tasks include teaching and supervision within education at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels with a focus on orthopedic rehabilitation. Teaching includes course responsibility, course administration and supervision of students. The tasks also include conducting research, contributing to the development within the research field, supervising doctoral students and actively seeking external funding. The tasks also include participation in the department's activities through e.g. administrative assignments to committees, to follow the development in the area of employment and the development in society in general within the field.
EligibilityThe eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
Completed doctoral degree in physiotherapy, or what the employer may consider equivalent, and demonstrated pedagogical skills are required. In addition to this, the applicant must be a registered physiotherapist with documented clinical experience as a physiotherapist.
Teaching is in Swedish, and the applicant must therefore be fluent in spoken and written Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish.
Assessment criteriaThe assessment criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
When assessing the applications, equal significance will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills of importance of the subject, thereafter clinical expertise. ln addition to these three areas, documented experience from positions of trust and management assignments as well as the ability to collaborate will also be considered.
In assessing pedagogical skills, emphasis is placed on skills and experience in course management, planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching as well as pedagogical development work. The ability must be documented in such a way that it is possible to assess the quality of the teaching. It is a merit to have undergone higher pedagogical education.
In assessing scientific proficiency, special emphasis will be placed on documented clinical research in the subject of physiotherapy. The assessment is based on the quality of the applicant's publications in peer-reviewed journals and received research grants. Doctoral student supervision is considered a merit.
In assessing clinical expertise, emphasis is placed on documented clinical experience, specialist skills, development of clinical work and implementation of research in clinical practice in the subject of physiotherapy. It is a merit if the applicant has clinical experience of orthopedic rehabilitation.
In the assessment, great importance will be given to good ability to cooperate and communicate with students.

Other informationAll teachers employed for an indefinite period must have completed a course in teaching and learning in higher education or in some other way acquired equivalent knowledge within one year at the latest from when their employment contract is finalised. Such qualifications in teaching and learning in higher education shall be assessed under separate arrangements as established by the Vice-Chancellor.
