Post Title: Senior Lecturer in 3D Modelling

FTE: 1.0 FTE (37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH8 £44,263 pa with potential to progress to £56,021 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane campus, Hatfield

We are seeking a senior lecturer with an engaging approach and professional experience to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students about generalist skills in 3D modelling and a related specialism in the 3D, visual effects or games production pipelines.

Main duties and responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be pro-active with an excellent track record in one or more areas related to 3D modelling. You will have detailed knowledge of commercial 3D modelling and maintain a clear sense of the development of the area and ensure the curriculum and teaching remain up to date. Furthermore, you will further develop and strengthen external relationships and partnerships with companies and media organisations that will benefit students and staff and support the strategic objectives of the University and School.

In addition, you will be expected to inspire and intellectually challenge our students, developing and delivering a high-quality teaching and learning experience, and ensuring the successful and effective day to day running of modules. You will also be expected to work closely with colleagues and the Programme Leaders, in a collegial and proactive academic team, to provide an excellent student learning experience.

Skill and experience required

You will have substantial, relevant, proven professional experience and some experience of teaching at HE level and must have an in-depth knowledge of 3D modelling and how it integrates within the 3D, visual effects or games production pipelines. You must have good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills. The abilities of working as part of a team, on your own initiative and proficiency in English are essential.

Qualifications required

You must hold a minimum of an undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant discipline. Significant professional experience is essential. Having a teaching qualification, membership of the HEA and having, or working towards, a postgraduate or research degree in a relevant field is desirable and would be an advantage as would membership of relevant professional organisations.

Formerly recognized as Hatfield Technical College, University of Hertfordshire is a public university which was established in the year 1952. This university primarily developed its roots in aeronautical engineering. In the year 1961, it was given the status of a regional college by the Ministry of Education. Chris Gubbey is Auto Executive for General Motors. Upen Patel is an acclaimed film actor and a model. BBC presenter, Kate Bellingham is a renowned alumnus of this university. In addition, it has also produced many eminent sports personalities such as Ajaz Akhtar, who is a British cricketer and Noah Cato, who is a rugby union player.
