  • About the Role

    The Senior Research Grants Officer will primarily focus on the Contract to Output area within Research Grants, Contracts and Finance, supporting academics in post-award contracting and administration of research funding. You will liaise with research funders, develop workflows, and provide expert advice. This role involves collaboration with various university departments and external parties, requiring exceptional service delivery, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of post-award administrative support for funded research, taking responsibility for high quality outcomes to stakeholders
  • Negotiation (where necessary) and execution of research funding agreements and compliance oversight of grants in cooperation with Academic Divisions, COO Portfolio), Chancellery, external research partners and external funding agencies under the direction of the Contract to Output Team Leader
  • Coordinating communication between research funders and researchers to ensure timely reporting on grant progress and final reports to funding bodies
  • Who we are looking for You will demonstrate established judgment, initiative, and the ability to carry out tasks autonomously while seeking guidance when needed. Additionally, you will showcase a proven capacity to assess and interpret intricate rules, policies, and procedures effectively.

    You will also have:

  • Research grant management experience including international grants
  • Demonstrated legal contracting experience
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, work to competing deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Experience in legal contract drafting is highly considered
  • Strong communication skills with experience in maintaining effective stakeholder relationships

    This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to- date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

RGCS also supports Chancellery in the management and administration of internally funded research grants.
