General Role Overview
Reporting to the Homologation Manager, this role supports global vehicle certification and compliance.
The Senior Engineer, Homologation provides support to the Studio and Engineering teams to ensure designs comply with global requirements. The Senior Engineer, Homologation interprets requirements, test procedures, and the homologation timing plan to meet the market roll-out plan, homologation budgets, labels, owner's manual requirements, and COP plan. The Lead Engineer, Homologation documents and communicates with legal entities and regulatory agencies (e.g., NHTSA, EU, GCC, India, etc.).
The Senior Engineer, Homologation, Range and Electric Consumption documents and communicates with legal entities and regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, CARB, VECC, etc.) in all matters regarding Range and Electric Consumption and supports the team in regarding labels and EV credits.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for Certification of Zero Emissions Vehicle and Zero Emissions Powertrain for Range, GHG, EC.
Identify homologation requirements and monitor homologation processes and regulations for new vehicle types to ensure compliance with legal requirements for Range, GHG, EC, Thermal system, and Defrost / Demist.
Manage the homologation activities to be aligned with project timing (e.g., Readiness of Information Document, COP, Label, Owner's Manual, Component Certification, etc.).
Plan homologation, conformity, and running change tests to achieve program time.
Arrange, support, and conduct physical tests that are part of the homologation process, creating compliance test reports and collating regulatory documentation.
Monitor global regulations (e.g., FMVSS, ECE, GB, etc.), ensuring changes are communicated throughout the business to ensure on-going compliance of Fisker vehicles.
Work closely with vehicle design engineers to interpret regulations, offer expert opinions on design issues, and justify and record the decisions.
Interact with global regulatory bodies, including NHTSA, EPA, EU type- approval agencies, Chinese test labs, and others as required.
Interface with technical services and approval authorities to deliver certification for required markets.
Maintain approvals in good standing with all regulatory agencies as products evolve and improve.
Manage re-certification for any future changes after the certification.
Prepare and file all necessary documents related to Testing, Type Approval, and Self-Certification.
Develop and plan all necessary required audits.
Support the Fisker team to create the EU and China conformity of production plan.
Support the Powertrain team to define the worst case and specification of the test samples for Homologation / COP / Running Change / Re- Certification tests.
Support sales and marketing team regarding the Carbon Credit, Tax, and Incentive plan.
Familiar with IMDS system process, guiding suppliers and the internal Fisker team regarding all market certification material requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred.
5 to 7 years of automotive homologation experience, with at least 5 years of experience in direct global certification activities for EPA and CARB.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies
Ideally, direct experience in taking a vehicle program at least for one market (e.g., North America, Europe, or China).
In depth understanding of global regulatory requirements and structures.
Expert knowledge to deliver comprehensive, correct, and conforming data to approval party (EPA, CARB, VECC, etc.).
Deep curiosity to understand the product and how the regulations may be applied.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with government authorities and test labs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).

Expected Salary Range
$67,480.00 to $187,980.00 per year.
Additional Compensation
Salary is one part of total compensation which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits. An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker's equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.

The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity as well as business considerations.
