Senior Adviser (Non-Matriculated Student Service)

The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) invites applications for a Senior Adviser for its new Non-Matriculated Student (NMS) Service.

Non-matriculated students are students studying for award bearing courses but who do not have membership of a Cambridge college.

The Senior Adviser will manage the essential assessment, guidance and advisory service provided to non-matriculated disabled students (all disabled students including neurodivergent students) by the University's Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC). The post-holder will work closely with the Head of the ADRC on the design, development and management of policies and procedures relating to support for non-matriculated disabled students across the University.

You will manage a new service being established by the University which will provide specialist advice, guidance and support to current and prospective disabled and neurodiverse non-matriculated students (including students with Specific Learning Difficulties, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Conditions), and staff who support these students. You will also work closely with academic and support staff within university departments and institutions (such as the Institute of Continuing Education), as well as with other professional services staff within the University's Student Services Centre. The post- holder will report to the Head of the ADRC and will be part of the ADRC Senior Management team.

You will be qualified at degree level (or equivalent relevant experience) and hold a disability related post-graduate qualification. Experience of management within higher education within student service provision would be desirable. A qualification in specific learning difficulties, Autism spectrum conditions or another disability specialism would also be desirable, as would a professional accreditation (such as membership of PAToSS, BDA, or NADP senior accredited member status, for example). You should have recent relevant experience of advising disabled and neurodiverse students and have an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulatory guidance and debate in relation to disability equality in a tertiary education setting. An understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would also be an advantage.

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and expectations, demonstrating a commitment to equality of opportunity. The ability to work to deadlines in a busy support service environment is essential.

Information for disabled applicants is contained within the further particulars document.
