The Role
The role of Senior Administrator (Legal Student Support) is one that offers support and assistance to students working on public and clinical legal education programmes in an administrative and operational capacity to ensure that that they follow policies and procedures.
The award-winning Hallam law clinics provide a free, independent, student-led, confidential legal service to staff and students of the University and members of the public who are in need of legal advice or assistance. It is run as an integral part of the law degree programme and is currently located at Collegiate campus. Students assist with real life legal cases which may include civil law, criminal appeals and prison law under the supervision of staff with experience in legal practice.
The University prides itself on applied learning with a focus on developing students' employability skills. We have a collaborative approach to providing clients with legal advice and access to justice (across a variety of areas, including prison and family law, personal injury and commercial dispute resolution). It allows undergraduate and post graduate students to gain practical experience of assisting with live client files, at various stages of a matter (including representing clients in litigation).

This role would suit someone with a legal background working in the law sector or similar.
The Department of Law and Criminology
The Department of Law and Criminology includes a dynamic staff group who are developing a portfolio of teaching, research and scholarly activities that cut across the subject areas of law, criminology and community justice.
The law subject group is a diverse mix of colleagues with a broad range of academic and professional practice experience. The primary focus is on law in practice underpinned by strong theoretical knowledge, the development and application of research skills and the enhancement of graduate attributes.

There are many notable alumni, including Kid Acne, who is a musician and artist, Roma Bubuniak, who is an artist. The notable staff includes Alison Adam, who is the professor of society, technology and science and I.M Dharmadasa, who is an applied researcher and physicist specializing in low in cost solar cells.
