Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Security Engineer to join GM China Engineering team.

The Security Engineer will lead in a progressive technical position responsible for continued execution of GM's security design and its evolution through technological advancements to ensure GM remains ahead of the adversary. The Security Engineer will define feature requirements and guide the implementation across internal and external embedded software developers. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to engage in advanced technology work to evaluate various strategies for consideration in GM's automotive security roadmap. You will also be given the opportunity to work cross-functionally with many GM business units to enable the success of vehicle development, manufacturing, and serviceability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking ownership of existing product cybersecurity requirements and/or create new requirements to become the single point contact for technical questions and fielded investigations
  • Review and approve the cybersecurity related design of embedded systems with necessary support from GM Global team
  • Run code scans on the software of embedded systems to identify security issues and mitigate them
  • Performing risk assessments on deviations from cybersecurity requirements
  • Work with penetration testing and development teams to risk assess and mitigate identified security vulnerabilities
  • Lead vehicle type approval execution on Cybersecurity perspective, including provide technical support to service provider and onsite support vehicle testing as needed
  • Collaborate with GM's Regulatory and Engineering teams as needed to ensure compliances of China vehicle Cybersecurity regulations
  • REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or equivalent majors.
  • Professional experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area required, including embedded controls/software development
  • Basic understanding of cryptography fundamentals (Encryption, Authentication, Symmetric Cryptography, Asymmetric Cryptography, PKI)
  • General knowledge of microcontroller architectures
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security.
  • Knowledge and experience with CAN, Ethernet communications protocol, understanding of network and systems security
  • Experience with bootloader, embedded OS, controller communication
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR standards and methodology
  • Experience with industry-standard security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, and encryption tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, such as NIST and ISO.
