We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Director, School of Health Professions Simulation Center for Excellence. The Director will be a faculty member and will report to the Dean of the School of Health Professions. In this role, the successful candidate will work with the SOHP's faculty and Simulation Center staff on the Duluth, St. Cloud , and Health Science Center campuses. The candidate will assure best practices for simulation are followed, including curriculum development, programmatic needs, and interprofessional collaboration. The Director organizes and manages Simulation Program activities, staff, equipment and technology used in educational activities and collaborates in various internal and external relationships. The Director will need to accommodate flexible working hours in order to meet internal and external community stakeholder needs, however, the basic schedule would be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The primary location of the Simulation Director would be in Duluth, MN, but this position will also serve the St. Cloud and Health Science Center (Duluth) campus. Travel to other campuses is expected.

Job Type Full-Time Indicate specific days and hours to be worked. Key Results/Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador for the use of simulation at all levels of interprofessional health education
  • Provide to faculty and administration the ongoing strategic vision of simulation for the School based on recognized national standards
  • Coordinate development of the annual simulation budget and staffing plans with appropriate members of leadership
  • Perform market research to understand current practices in health professions simulation training
  • Coordinate supervision of simulation experiences including audio/visual equipment as indicated, logistical support, training, daily operations and other simulation activities as indicated
  • Chair the Simulation and Skills Committee (School of Health Professions)
  • Oversee and support the development of course curricula with appropriate faculty and staff.
  • Provide direction in scheduling simulation rooms for all simulation experiences
  • Develop and implement a Standardized Patient Program
  • Maintain a scholarly agenda related to medical simulation and facilitate for other faculty who wish to do the same
  • Supervise and provide support for the Simulation Center staff
  • Lead solicitation of instructor and student feedback following simulation experiences.
  • Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices for simulation.
  • Supervise staff in simulation room maintenance and set-up to ensure an optimal learning environment
  • Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in nursing or a related health professions field
  • Experience teaching with medical simulation
  • National Simulation Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related health professions field; willingness to obtain PhD or DNP or evidence of progress towards the terminal degree.

  • Minimum of three years of experience as professional educator
