Purpose/Description
The Residential Life Student Assistant (RLSA) is responsible for assisting
the Residential Life office in day to day operations from answering phone
calls and emails, to walk-in customers, to assist with parent/family/student
questions. In the summer. the RLSA will be interacting with summer renters and
programs, including Snowbirds, Grandma's Marathon, Upward Bound, etc. Duties
will include checking in and checking out individuals and groups and providing
general hospitality as needed. The RLSA will work very closely with the
Residential Life professional staff team. This could include preparing
training materials, assisting with the housing selection process, readying
keys or Saints Cards, or other duties as assigned, such as answering e-mails,
phone calls, making copies, hanging signs, etc. Job training will occur before
the first shift and on the job.
Job Duties
Assist with housing placement, contracting, roommate selection, and
communications
Run office in day-to-day manner
Check email, respond to phone calls, manage social media, and edit website
Create manuals for job roles
Update daily reports such as occupancy, e-mail, birthday
Check the Res Life e-mail and phone daily and respond accordingly
Assist in inventory of furniture
Assist with Orientation, Move-In, and Welcome Weekend activities in the
residence halls as needed
Inventory, clean, and organize office space
Create signage for doors welcoming all guests
Other duties may be assigned by the Residential Life staff
Welcoming and checking in summer guests
Preparing materials and packets for summer visitors
Required Qualifications
Must be a current or incoming CSS student
Students must qualify for federal student employment
Must attend and participate in all required trainings
Must be able to pass the Kari Koskinen background check
High quality communication with everyone contacting the office
Honesty, appropriateness, and professionalism (including clothing)
Ability to schedule, place rooms, and arrange communications with groups
Ability to follow detail instructions and work independently from
supervisor(s) and maintain self-regulated responsibilities
Ability to deal with the public; particularly housing guests, and handle
emergency situations
Ability to remain calm, work quickly and efficiently
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact with a
wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner required.
Job functions require moving quickly, sitting, standing, and walking
during shift.
Previous experience working with varieties of groups
Previous experience working independently yet on a team
Previous experience working in an office environment
Previous experience with google docs/sheets as well as Excel
Ability to be flexible

Hiring is dependent upon current staff availability.
Employment will be probationary through first evaluation three weeks into
role.
Expect to work 20-40 hours per week, depending on you preference and
availability. We can work with most schedules and vacation. Occasional
evening and weekends are required.
Scheduled work hours may be between Monday – Friday 8:00am – 7pm and
10am-7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
We hope to hire several students, which will allow us to accommodate
various schedules.
