Research Grant Coordinator

The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy is looking for a Research Grant Coordinator to join our Research Grant team to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Department's research income. The Department is based on West Cambridge site (see https: // www. msm.cam.ac.uk for further information). The Department has approximately 150 active research grants.

You will be involved in supporting all activities related to research grants in the Department and collaboration with other departments, with particular responsibility for the management of all research grants from application to post awards in respect of income forecasting, budget monitoring, management reporting, and auditing. This includes advisory and administrative support to staff engaged in research activities.

Key responsibilities include: - Taking the lead on the coordination of complex research grant applications. - Providing clear and accurate advice to staff on funder's requirement and research grants applications and management. - Developing systems and processes to monitor research projects funding - Providing reports and data analysis on status of research funding to senior leadership team - Training new Principal Investigators and research staff to engage with research funding opportunities. - Searching for and disseminating funding opportunities to appropriate researchers and academics in the Department - Line management.

You will have previous research grants administration experience and/or experience of financial reporting, analysis and forecasting. You will be an experienced user of Microsoft Office suite and ideally have some knowledge of grant application process and financial systems. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, have a high level of attention to detail as well as being self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines. You should be able to work autonomously and will benefit from a network of Research Grant administrative staff across the School of Physical Sciences.
