    The Opportunity

    The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is currently seeking a Research Fellow, to focus on the development and optimisation of a new process for the controlled directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells, to produce a specific cellular product for use in therapeutic applications in the treatment of cancer.

    In this role, the Research Fellow will work collaboratively with academics from Engineering and Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Faculties and with a commercial partner to investigate the response of pluripotent and differentiating cells to specific materials, and characterise the resulting cellular products in order to assist the team in modifying an existing manufacturing process, and optimise the processes and procedures to generate a well-defined, extensively characterised and consistent cellular product.

    To be successful in this role, you will have a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or a closely related area. You will have experience in making reporter cell lines, experience in the directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells, particularly to the T-cell lineage, recombinant expression and other molecular techniques as well as an understanding of human notch signalling and T cell development. Your experience in common immunological techniques, including multiparameter flow cytometry and immunoassays, will ensure your success in this role.
