Offer Description

The National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics has an open position for a research assistant – Master's student with expertise in physics , polymer physics, solid state physics, advanced material physics, or applied physics. The selected candidate will be involved in the modification of natural polymeric materials by plasma processing and their characterization using spectroscopy and rheology techniques, as well as the processing of experimental data based on a multivariate approach. The project PCE 51/2022, entitled “Selection of the Competitive Reactions for Plasma Modified Starch”, aims to identify and explain how the main competitive reactions – crosslinking and degradation – that occur in starch macromolecules subjected to plasma processing gain the dominant position depending on the native starch features and plasma processing parameters.

A university diploma in Physics, Polymer Physics, Solid State Physics, Advanced Material Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Physics or Applied Physics Engineering,

Basic skills in physics, spectroscopy, rheology, laboratory equipment, software, and practices (i.e., sample preparation, analytical methods), data processing, documentation, communication, and teamwork.

Specific Requirements

The candidate must have:

Fundamental notions of physics;

Fundamental notions of material characterization: spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology;

Basic knowledge of statistics;

Abilities for laboratory tasks;

Abilities for data processing and analysis;

Good computer operation skills;

Good skills in written and oral communication;

Good knowledge of English.
