Registered Nurse (Part Time / Casual)

On-site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a part- time/casual basis.

The Role

We are currently looking for you to take on the temporary role of a Part- time/Casual Registered Nurse based out of our Oshawa Assembly Plant. Your shifts may be scheduled during the week and/or on the weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) to provide absence relief. Your work schedule may also vary on a weekly basis. Our plant is a 3-shift operation. This is a temporary position.

The Health Center Nurse is responsible for providing emergency care, first aid and episodic treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses within standing orders. This position works toward the prevention of illness & injury, protection from work related and environmental hazards, and promotion and restoration of health. Individual will maintain accurate medical records related to legal, regulatory and reporting requirements.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Prepare the patient for consultations, examinations and treatments.

  • Observe, recognize and describe the signs and symptoms at the level of their qualification.

  • Perform specifically prescribed, or routine treatment.

  • Integrate the health team, participating in the Pre-hospital Care, providing assistance to Basic Life Support.

  • Support the doctor when requested;

  • Keep Ambulance equipment in order and operant;

  • Assistance of accident victims, preparation and maintenance of documents and other related measures;

  • Control and maintenance of the stocks of medicines and other consumables belonging to the clinic;

  • Assist in the administration of the fulfillment of the occupational programs as Periodical Health Examinations, Occupational Exams and others.

  • To give suitable destination to hospital waste in accordance with ISO 14001.

  • Disinfection and sterilization of used surgical material.

  • Maintain and control medical manuscripts and electronic files.

  • Ensure the cleanliness, cleanliness and good order of the place.

    Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • RN Diploma/ BSN required and 2 yrs experience in an organizational health related role

  • Valid state nursing license required in good standing from College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Certified in Healthcare Provider CPR/AED

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership skills

  • High level of initiative and sound independent discernment

  • Proficient with electronic medical records and basic computer programs/software

  • Ability to work on a part-time casual basis providing absenteeism coverage. Shifts to be scheduled on as required basis

  • Ability to work various shifts, including midnights – as required

  • What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Registered Nurse with 3-5 years proven experience in ER or occupational health role

  • Certification as Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) or Occupational Health Nursing Specialist (COHN-S) preferred
