Offer DescriptionJoining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications bringing together 1,000 wholeheartedly committed experts across 29 bases in Mainland and Overseas France.
BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface-related phenomena, with a view to: meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.
As part of your mission, you will be responsible for :
- scoping, specifying and prototyping calculation code;
- drafting technical specifications and participating in the acceptance of the Computing Core;
- developing internal tools and specific developments in connection with the scientific digital platform;
- drafting of various documents (meeting support, specifications, acceptance specifications, etc.) and promotion of work through scientific publications.
You will participate in/manage Maintenance in Operational Conditions through support activities, corrective maintenance and acceptance testing, and Evolutionary Maintenance through the upstream, technical specification, development and acceptance testing phases.
Our Digital services for Geosciences Division (DNG) is responsible for designing and implementing digital services to address geoscientific issues. It is also one of the leaders in environmental Information Services in France, Europe and internationally. Within this department, in a friendly atmosphere and surrounded by expert profiles, you will join the Traitement, Intelligence Artificielle et 3D (TIA) unit, which focuses on the development of algorithms and data processing to facilitate the production of information and knowledge for predictive geoscience (digital twin). Your field of action will cover all BRGM scientific activities.

Skills/Qualifications
You have significant experience (at least 5 years) in C/C++ development, IT project management, expertise in scientific computing, and mastery of scripting languages (Python in particular).
You are familiar with the software production and quality process.
You have the following qualities:
- ability to synthesize information
- Ability to listen and communicate (particularly in terms of popularizing the complex concepts involved);
- Autonomy;
- Good interpersonal skills, team spirit, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team: computer scientists, digital geoscientists (geologists, hydrogeologists, geophysicists, etc.).
- Strong writing skills;
- Technical and scientific curiosity;
- Interest in environmental issues.
