The R&D Associate Engineer Identify plays an important role by proposing and implement technology development and solutions. In this position, you will execute product development tasks using your technical expertise. Our R&D engineers and scientists develop breakthrough technologies that change the way the world works, and industries do business. ABB Electrification Installation Products is currently seeking a R&D Associate Engineer for the Non-metallic Boxes & Fittings products. You will be part of the Commercial Essential Products R&D team, with the goal of supporting one of ABB Electrification Installation Products core product brands Carlon®. In this role you will be responsible for providing technical support for design and development of new products, enhancement and sustainability activities of existing products, innovation and ideation activities, and internal and external customer inquiries regarding your product line responsibilities.

Your responsibilities
  • Provide R&D/Engineering support for assigned product lines. Over time, become the Subject Matter Expert
  • Manage product development projects including design, testing, certification, vendor communication, etc
  • Use analytical/problem solving skills to resolve design issues and product line challenges related to customer facing information
  • Generate and conduct dimensional and tolerance analysis to ensure design functionality and accuracy
  • Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, BOM, material specifications, instruction sheets, quality control plans, etc
  • Provide project updates and deliver gate meeting presentations as needed, both formally and informally through proactive communications
  • Your background
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical) is required with 0-3 years' experience
  • Strong proficiency using CAD software (preferably Creo) is required
  • Must have proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Must be a self-motivated quick learner, who is results oriented with positive attitude
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English is required
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States
