Project Manager (Fixed Term)

We are looking for a project manager for an exciting multi-funder, multi-site, research project led from the University of Cambridge, which will run for five years in the first instance, with a high likelihood of follow up funding. It is anticipated that the project will start during October 2023.

The Project:

TBI-REPORTER will establish a robust and sustainable platform to facilitate research in TBI across the lifespan. To achieve this, we will harness interdisciplinary collaboration between world leading data, clinical and biomedical science experts, with patients and public front and centre of platform development. To achieve these aims, TBI-REPORTER will establish a UK national research platform comprising:

1) A Data Hub to collate and curate TBI research data at scale.

2) A National Biomarker Resource, drawing on expertise from both TBI and dementia research

3) An Experimental Medicine Network of research-ready sites, with explicit capabilities for early translational research, initially comprising six Pathfinder Centres, but eventually expanding to a network of 10-16 sites.

Through delivery of the TBI-REPORTER platform our programme will facilitate the development of proof of concept experimental studies and improved disease models, patient recruitment, outcome selection and engagement of industry.

The post:

The idea candidate will be educated to degree level/level 6 vocational qualifications or with relevant practical experience in a relevant area (either in academia or industry). Experience of setting up and running clinical trials or observational studies would be an advantage but is not essential.

They will be familiar with research workflow, administration (ethics applications, R&D regulations funding applications, University software and health and safety).

We are looking for someone with previous experience in academic finances, research grants and budgets. And experience in procurement in office academic and scientific areas/labs.

They will also be highly organised, able to manage their workload and manage the 14+ sites, grant work packages, PIs, CIs and Executive Committee.

The postholder will need to:

  • Establish and maintain project communications with key stakeholders, specialist clinical audiences, science/academia and UK policy makers.
  • Create and update documents (e.g. core project documents, papers, publications, draft meeting agendas, minutes etc.),
  • Develop and refine management systems and processes to ensure quality and audit trails are maintained.
  • The candidate will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including interacting through social media.
