Programme Manager for Climate Compatible Growth
Are you an experienced Programme Manager looking for a new and exciting opportunity?
Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) is an exciting research programme involving leading universities and development partners. CCG is funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and aims to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South, with joint research projects in Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Lao PDR, Viet Nam and India.
You will be based within the Mechanics and Materials Division at the Department of Engineering's Central Cambridge site and will work closely with the PI and researchers to ensure the effective and timely delivery of the Climate Compatible Growth programme at Cambridge. The successful candidate will achieve this by taking the lead role in managing and coordinating the various research activities, ensuring the research deliverables are met, as well as managing an annual budget exceeding £1M. You will be required to establish robust systems to track and monitor progress and ensure that the available staff resource is effectively deployed to deliver the programme deliverables.
The successful candidate will ideally hold Masters degree in a relevant discipline or have an equivalent level of practical experience. The successful candidate will have previous experience of coordinating research projects or networks with a track record of delivery to time and budget and staff management experience would be desirable. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a project team and with wider stakeholders. You will be an experienced user of Microsoft Office, project management tools, social media platforms and website content management systems.
Research experience in a scientific or engineering discipline, ideally at Masters level or equivalent relating to resource use, decarbonisation, international development, or similar would be desirable, but we do require an individual who is experienced in organising and running events which bring together multiple stakeholders.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
