The Role:

Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products!

As the Shift Leader, you will be Responsible for managing salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a very large group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Create a highly engaged floor operation team
  • Maintain safety culture through audits, observation and incident investigation
  • Employee development including mentoring, training and evaluation of employees
  • Knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS), quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations
  • Champion of allocated Business Plan Deployment (BPD) activities
  • Ability to adapt plans & resources to meet production schedule requirements
  • Manpower allocation planning
  • Lead shift meetings for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost
  • Execute CIP workshops in the areas of Quality & Cost
  • Complies and resolves disputes with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Manages budget and achievement of productivity improvements
  • Ensure cost control achieves budget needs
  • Must be willing to rotate shifts
  • Additional Description

    Your Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an Automotive Assembly Plant (OEM preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or 10 total years of Manufacturing Experience required
  • Ability to lead problem solving activities and leverage analytical abilities.
  • Leadership/Management Experience (UAW, Salaried, Skilled Trades or similar)
  • High level of oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • What Will Give You a Competitive Edge:

  • Production experience
  • Experience within Body Shop or General Assembly preferred
  • Experience in applying 6 pillars of quality process to meet BIQ IV
