About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their research expertise and emerging research profile in the field of clinical multi-omics and spatial biology. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to critical appraisal of research and analysis methods and be able to identify niches for narrative generation and publication outputs.

This Research Fellow position will focus on working with teams of experimental, computational and statistical analysts to model spatial metrics against clinical covariates. The successful candidate will contribute to and support the Clinical-oMx Lab in all aspects of experimental, data analysis, supervision and reporting of findings.

Key responsibilities will include:

Research: Produce quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outputs. Critically evaluate published literature and methods for their adaptation and improvement

Employ advanced analysis of spatial biology data to generate hypotheses and narratives.

Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.

Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.

Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal services roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

The contract end date is based on current funding arrangements. Usual discussions will occur prior to this date as to the likelihood of continuation of this funding for a potential of up to 3 additional years.

About You

Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area.

An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.

Be familiar with basic clinical statistics and their presentation in publications.

Be willing to learn advanced analysis techniques in spatial biology to generate publications.

Be willing to engage with computational scientists to achieve common goals.

Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.

Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, mandatory immunisations, first aid and/or CPR certification.
