Job description
Faculty of Engineering, Science and Economy
The Faculty (Physics Department) wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with Prof Jacopo Bertolotti and Prof Euan Hendry. This Leverhulme funded post is available from January 2024 for 36 months (start date negotiable).

The successful applicant will design and build ultrafast optics experiments for a range of nonlinear optical systems for optical computation.
The project brings together a team with the necessary expertise in wavefront manipulation Bertolotti, PI with expertise in ultrafast laser measurement Hendry, CI to develop the next generation of optical computing systems.
Flexible start and finish times can be considered for this role.
About you
The successful applicant will join a vibrant research team, and focus on the development of completely new optical computation approaches. The role also requires the ability to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, and in a written format, and contribute to the preparation of new research proposals.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD in the physical sciences (or similar). It is essential that the candidate has experience working with and aligning ultrafast laser systems and pump -probe type experiments. Competence in programming lab experiments preferably using python or labview would also be advantageous.
