The above full-time EPSRC funded role is available from April 2024 for 12 months, with the potential for a 12-month extension.

The post

The University of Exeter's Department of Engineering is inviting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position within the Hydrogen Storage Research team. The successful candidate will engage in our pioneering research under the leadership of Dr. Mi Tian. This role is a unique opportunity to explore innovative hydrogen storage solutions, supported by EPSRC funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct high-level research in material synthesis, characterization, and performance assessment, specifically focusing on porous materials and metal hydrides.

Participate in collaborative experiments, potentially at partner laboratories or international synchrotron and neutron facilities.

Manage research activities, including the development of test rigs in conjunction with laboratory technicians.

Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, particularly concerning high-pressure hydrogen gas.

About you

You are a passionate researcher with:

A PhD (completed or near completion) or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated expertise in the discipline with a methodical approach to research.

Strong background in the synthesis and testing of materials related to hydrogen storage.

Familiarity with neutron scattering techniques would be advantageous.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to disseminate research findings effectively, both in writing and orally.

Capability to draft and submit proposals to external funding bodies.
