We seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Renewable Driven Cooling Systems Modelling at the School of Engineering. The appointment is funded by the UKRI - Energy Catalyst scheme “Off-grid modular cold rooms and pre-coolers for remote and dry areas in Ethiopia”, held by Dr Ahmed Rezk. The project will be carried out by a consortium including industry (Kinder Energy UK) and overseas academic partners (Jimma University) in collaboration Aston University.

This position involves conducting research activities independently and as part of a team, utilising professional expertise. The main goal is to perform 0D and 1D integrated system-level modelling for cooling systems powered by solar and wind energy, using actual data collected about system requirements. The job also involves techno-economic optimisation for the integrated system(s) and utilising integrated systems modelling tools like TRNSYS and Matlab. Additionally, you will contribute to identifying business models for the developed system(s) with support from academics at Aston Business School.

We are looking for candidates with a track record in researching energy and cooling systems modelling and a keen interest in practical research. In addition, the role will involve collaborating on research related to the project's themes and taking the initiative to develop research articles for reputable conferences and journals.
