Department: Police Reports to: Assigned Supervisor

Summary : Under basic supervision, maintains, stores, orders, and issues uniforms, equipment, and supplies for Odessa Police Department (OPD) staff.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Performs basic clerical duties in accordance with OPD policies and procedures, including maintaining inventory and issuing supplies and equipment; process supply requests and purchase orders.
  • Monitors inventory levels and reorders supplies as needed; maintains employee records; receives and tracks payments; stacks and stores materials in designated areas, keeps warehouse orderly and clean.
  • Maintains the absolute confidentiality of all records and information.
  • Supports the department with regular and timely attendance.
  • Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education, Training and Experience Guidelines : High School Diploma or GED required; AND one year of computer and customer service experience required. Background investigation and polygraph is require.

    Knowledge of :

  • Principles and practices of records management and file maintenance.
  • Safety rules and regulations and safety precautions in a warehouse environment.
  • Skill in:

  • Dealing tactfully and courteously with co-workers.
  • Closely following verbal and written instructions, procedures and safe work practices
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • License and certification requirements : A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.

    Physical demands and working environment : Work is performed in a warehouse work environment; moderate physical demands, frequent lifting, carrying and moving of supplies and equipment.
