Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products! Job Description:

The Plant Lean Material Systems (LMS) Lead will develop and execute all phases of LMS to create the most efficient, leanest designs for the entire GM Enterprise. This individual will work with all levels of a cross functional team to drive CIP, support launch execution & steady state improvements, and drive established best practices. The LMS Lead will also manage funding for Material & LMS Launch initiatives, develop / understand long-term Material & LMS Vision for the plant. Plan and support execution of all Plant Lean Material Strategies including material flow, material routings, storage space requirements, mobile equipment, layout development, storage areas, kitting, small lot strategy, sequence planning, PFEP, etc.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Implement standardize material flow and material handling processes and measure plant compliance
  • Drive Material Planning Metrics (DPP & DPPN) to be applied in North America
  • Develop efficient Material Route Planning (GMOS), Dock Strategies, and Material Flow
  • Develop & track to Master Dot milestones & Deliverables
  • Support the Plant Manufacturing and Launch teams and PFMEA/SFMEA processes
  • Develop and apply Lean Material Strategies (LMS) using the Material Matrix to ensure most efficient material presentation to Mfg. Operators.
  • Drive & execute common standards, processes, and lean designs.
  • Integrate Lean Manufacturing and GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles
  • Drive problem solving issues for throughput and quality issues and support BIQ objectives
  • Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements (CI)
  • Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and ergonomic guidelines
  • Facilities design, layout, and processes that reduce cost/ achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Provide support for execution and readiness activities related to steady state and major launches.
  • Drive implementation of best practices and standardized performance metrics across all GA assembly operations
  • Additional Description

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Material, Packaging, Industrial, Supply Chain) or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years in a manufacturing assembly plant environment
  • High level of expertise with Microsoft Office Software.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Processes
  • Preferred:

  • Proficient with AutoCAD, FactoryCAD or equivalent, MS-Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Launch Experience
  • Knowledge of GMS Standards/Principles
  • Special notes:

    Extended working hours, and varying shift schedules may be required to support Program Development and Launch Execution.
