Offer Description

The thesis work will be co-supervised by Benoit Cottereau (Research director at the CerCo laboratory) and Nicolas Cuperlier (assistant professor at the ETIS laboratory). It will be carried out in Toulouse (CerCo laboratory, UMR 5549), in collaboration with the ETIS (UMR 8051) and IPAL laboratory (IRL 2955 in Singapore), as well as with the National University of Singapore (NUS). The doctoral student will be required to collaborate with researchers, engineers and students from these different entities. He/she will be enrolled in the CLESCO doctoral school (https: // www. univ- tlse3.fr/comportement-langages-education-socialisation…) in the specialty 'Neurosciences, behavior and cognition'.

Title: Modelling neural responses during navigation in biological systems using spiking neural networks

Description of the thesis: the aim of this PhD project is to model the processing of spatial information during navigation in biological systems. This modeling will be carried out using data collected by event-based cameras and spiking neural networks. The objective will be to reproduce data (neural and/or behavioral) observed in different mammal species.

The selected candidate should wish to work on an interdisciplinary project combining computational neuroscience, neurobiology and computer science. He/she must also have a solid background in programming and artificial intelligence, solid theoretical knowledge of the nervous system and a good level of English.
