The Parts Technical Specialist will lead support for parts technical inquiries and specifications.
Experience with parts catalogs, CAD drawings and service manuals is essential for this position. The work will involve investigating inquiries from service centers and mobile technicians with timely follow up. Concerns could include physical parts inspections in warehouses, issuing stock holds, quarantining stock and liaising with aftersales for corrective action. This position will work with Service Engineering to support product recalls and campaigns with new countermeasure parts.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of service and parts operations and the ability to distill information and communicate in a clear manner. Cross-functional experience working with Service Operations, Service Engineering, Campaign and Recall Management to help support essential field service and ensure customer safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Field and analyze inquiries related to part quality, fit, function and technical specifications.
Troubleshoot parts concerns, interfacing with Service Operations and Engineering to resolve inquiries from service centers and mobile technicians.
Oversee and maintain part number continuity and database information.
Conduct investigations into parts quality issues; may involve quarantine of bad stock and return to vendor when necessary.
Design and build scalable reports to monitor critical metrics, highlight areas of improvement, and influence operational strategy for position.
Coordinate the development of necessary documents to track case load, parts quality concerns and recall / campaign parts support.
Work closely with internal teams and service providers to optimize parts data flow and analyze data as necessary.
Project trends in parts failures using data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.) to make recommendations to leadership.
Perform ad hoc data analysis and provide efficient and accurate analytical support for on-the-spot business inquiries and adjustments.
Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience
3-5 years of OEM parts experience working with parts inventory and analytics.
Proficiency in Excel is necessary, and a capability to use Tableau or Power BI to analyze and summarize data is a plus.
Experience with BOM process, a plus.
Knowledge and experience of service parts operations, preferably in an automotive OEM aftersales level role.
