Online Tutor: BSc Business & Marketing

About The Role

We are looking to recruit an Online Tutor to join our BSc Business and Marketing (Online) team in the Cornwall Business School. Your role will involve working on a module titled ‘B2B in digital environments'. This module proactively addresses B2B in digital environments and events management.

This module content is already recorded, the online tutor leads discussions and reviews students work in weekly tutorials and webinars. Students engage with pre-recorded content that has been created by module leaders in the virtual learning environment and work through this during the week in their own time and come together to meet their online tutor for live sessions.

As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars, workshops or tutorials each week to a cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for topic discussions, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online learning space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience. The hours for this role are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. The flexibility of this role means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities.

The Online Tutor for this module will be allocated 208 hours to support up to 30 students with learning, assessment and feedback, working May 2024 to September 2024.

About You

Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level. Student focused, well organised, and digitally literate you will be running live tutorials, webinars, online workshops and providing support for a group of students. Previous experience teaching is required as well as excellent communication skills, and the commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students. You will have knowledge of assessment and pastoral support.

We are looking to hear from candidates who also have the following skills/experience:

  • An understanding of the principles and practicalities of online learning.
  • Excellent digital literacy
  • Experience of teaching within an HE environment.
  • Experience of facilitating learning in online.

    Due to the online nature of this role, it can be worked remotely, however the successful candidate must be based within the UK.

    Falmouth University is a multi-arts university in the south-west coastline of England in Cornwall. It is based across two campuses, one in Falmouth and the other in the close by town of Penryn. It was at first established in 1902 and later officially became a university in 2012. Apart from traditional fine art subjects, it currently offers degrees in advertising, architecture performance and marketing. Course facilities incorporate performance and recording studios, proficient standard photography facilities, excellent computerized manufacturing technology and a TV studio and display.

    Students can personally visit the employability group at both campuses for careers advice and guidance. Support incorporates help with finding part-time work while at college, placement and internship opportunities, advice with CVs, applications, interviews, freelance work and starting a business. Falmouth additionally offers opportunities to study or work abroad as a major aspect of a degree. The Erasmus and Study Abroad Group can support students in arranging this enhancing experience.
