Position Title Non-Tenure-Track, Lecturer in Culinary Arts Department Visual Arts/Design FLSA Exempt General Description

The University of North Alabama's College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering (CASE) is seeking a qualified full-time faculty at the rank of lecturer for the culinary arts associate degree program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in the classroom and kitchen lab environments, developing curriculum, advising and recruiting students, and assessing degree program learning outcomes, all while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. Essential Job Duties

Faculty are all expected to contribute to the overall operation of the university, provide service at the department, college, and/or university level, honor university policies and procedures, and support the university's mission by acting as an ambassador of the culinary arts program. This position will begin in Fall 2023 with a standard teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Hospitality, or a related field is required;
  • Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline) is preferred; T
  • Teaching experience in culinary arts/food service/hospitality at a post- secondary institution is preferred;
  • Minimum of five years of hospitality/kitchen operation industry experience is required;
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience with line-level employees in the hospitality/culinary or related field is required;
  • Ability to prove a track record of steady progression of skill level, increased levels of responsibility, and personal, career-oriented professional development as a chef and/or instructor in culinary education is required;
  • Relevant work experience is required in one or more of the following areas – volume food service, fine dining, multi-unit restaurant operations, and menu research and development;
  • Familiarity with basic fundamental cooking methods is required; and
  • Advanced culinary skills are required.
