    Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting the network and providing system configuration and management for all network devices.

    Essential Functions

    Install, maintain, and implement network management software to monitor performance characteristics for local area networks including baseline performance, collision and error rates, congestion, and overall efficiency. Analyze collected data, prepare reports documenting the status of a network, and work with Network Engineer to implement network infrastructure design modifications.

    Use network-monitoring software to detect error conditions and service interruptions throughout the network. Perform diagnostic and analysis procedures to troubleshoot the symptoms and correct the problems. Report errors to the designated technical contract person for the affected system. Notify affected department of service outages when appropriate. Prepare reports documenting network errors and service interruptions.

    Configure network equipment to implement design specifications and "configuration congruency" for various subsystems (routing, virtual, LANS, etc.) throughout the network. Ensure security of all network configurations.

    Use monitoring and analysis tools to determine the number of users accessing various network resources and degree of resources utilization. Develop resource accounting reports necessary for growth projections.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

    2. Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion.

    3. Experience using, installing, maintaining, and implementing network management software.

    4. Experience analyzing, collecting data, and preparing reports.

    5. Experience configuring network equipment.

    6. Experience using monitoring and analysis tools.

    Desired Qualifications:

    1. Experience performing basic network troubleshooting.

    2. Experience working with routers, gateways, firewalls, and transceivers.

    3. Experience with network monitoring and network security tools and techniques.

    4. Experience with TCP/IP technologies including routing, sub-netting, multicast, and tunneling.

    5. Experience with IP applications and concepts such as telnet, FTP, and HTTP.

    6. Experience with Microsoft, Cisco equipment and layer three routing and switching.

Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.

    4. Job will require extended working hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

    5. Must possess valid driver license.

    7. Must be able to travel to different locations throughout the district using own transportation.

    Copies of transcripts must reflect completed coursework and conferred degrees. All academic coursework and degrees must be from an accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

    Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

    Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.

    Out-of-town candidates invited for an on-campus interview will be reimbursed for one-half of the transportation cost for travel performed within the United States. The College will arrange and pay for up to two nights lodging.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
