    Job Description Summary

    The department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Commonwealth University – Mansfield seeks applicants for anticipated temporary full-time one semester, part-time one semester and/or part-time academic year, instructor positions as they arise beginning with the Fall 2023 semester.

    Essential Duties Specific Duties

    The most frequent needs of the Department include:

  • Applied Music Instructors (private lessons and weekly studio class)
  • Music Student Teacher Supervisors
  • Anticipated needs for the 2023-2024 academic year include:

  • Music Education Coordinator (part-time)
  • Anticipated courses include General Music Methods, Foundations of Music Education, Music Student Teacher Professional Seminar
  • Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in music discipline
  • Record of performance and pedagogy experience

    Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time department faculty.

    Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and criminal background.

    Completing this search is contingent upon student enrollment and available funding.

    Background Clearances

    In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.

    Appointment is provisional provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your three background checks are returned to the Human Resource office prior to your hire date.
