ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Operations Manager and is located in Tucson, Arizona. As a Motor Winder A, you will be responsible for performing complex operations such as customer interaction and reporting, rewinding, repairing, reassembling and testing large-sized DC armatures, AC stators and rotors, etc. with minimal supervision. Able to work independently and meet delivery criteria and timetables.

Your responsibilities
  • Performs complex operations such as rewinding, repairing, reassembling and testing large-sizedDC armatures, AC stators and rotors, etc.
  • Progress updates/reporting to customers
  • Performs related duties as assigned such as assisting on the larger or more complicated units
  • May dismantle and repair commutators and collector rings as well as to band rotating equipment
  • May direct others
  • May be required to work overtime, various shifts, holidays and weekends
  • Travel to job Sites
  • Your background
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 10 years of experience winding AC and/or DC armatures from 250 HP to 5,000 HP +
  • Eligibility Requirements
  • Able to read and interpret winding connection drawings
  • Experience winding field coils
  • Able to travel and complete overnight stays
  • Good Mechanical skills a must
  • Hydro-Electric experience highly desirable
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
